Wear Rivers Trust

GET INVOLVED

2022 was a good year with staff and volunteers regularly working out and about in the catchment, now we are in 2023 there are lots of volunteer events being planned for the coming Spring and Summer months.

The trust had a strong Summer in 2022 tackling invasive non native species, INNS to you and me, including  poisoning Giant Hogweed and Japanese Knotweed and based Himalayan Balsam. We are planning to do more in 2023.  For more information INNS then click the green INNS button to the right.

We are looking for more people to help with the Riverfly monitoring we do across the whole catchment, this involves a day training, looking at how to collected a sample, identify what you find and record the data and can be from the river or stream near you and sampling regularly throughout the year.  We are also looking to extend the monitoring to include more species under the Urban Riverfly program and the SMART rivers in conjunction with the Salmon and Trout Conservation.
